I had a baby shower to go to yesterday and of course like normal “Beth fashion” I waited until the last minute to make a quilt. When I was looking at my fabrics to decide on which ones to use, I spotted the center of the quilt which is 4 blocks that I had made well over 2 years ago. Since I was so short on time I decided I would go with those 4 blocks that were already finished and use that in the quilt.
The Heather Ross Fish in Bags is one of my all time favorite collections right next to the Flea Market Fancy by Denyse Schmidt.
The mother didn’t know the gender of the baby and she loved the quilt! It will be perfect for either. Coincidentally their favorite college team color is orange.

Sneak Peak
Pardon my French Roses.
My mom and I don’t get to spend much time together lately. She is either working or spending time with my Dad building their dream home. This last Saturday my Dad was working all day long so me and my mom decided we would have a day of sewing. Our quilt of choice this day was the French Roses.
So we went to Hobby Lobby to get some material then came home and got busy! I decided to do Vintage/Gingham and she decided on dark reds and warm yellows.
We started cutting out all our fabrics and having fun laying them out to see what they will look like.
Here are my roses.
Here are her roses.
It is amazing how it has such a different feel just by changing the colors of the fabrics.
Since she is such and overachiever and I’m a complete slacker, here is her quilt top almost complete. I haven’t even started sewing my flowers together. She is going to add a border around the edge then she will be ready to quilt it and sew sew the binding on.
Hopefully I will be able to show you my quilt almost finished soon. But then again I wouldn’t count on it. 😉
Pink/Green Patchwork Pocket Purse
That was a lot of P’s!
I have been wanting to make myself a pink and green purse. I finally got around to doing it last night.
Sorry these pictures aren’t that cute but it was 1:10 in the morning. So I didn’t really care about making them cute.
Patchwork Pocket Detail
And then the back.
I pretty much like it overall. If I made another one I think I would make the pocket match more. But it will work for me. 🙂
Have a good weekend!
I plan on spending lots of time in my sewing room this weekend so I might have things to show you! Yea!
Christmas is coming….
Rag Bag for a Special Person
Constant use will not wear ragged the fabric of friendship. ~Dorothy Parker
One of lifes greatest blessing are the friends we make along the way. I have been friends with Holly since daycare. That is a really long time! Growing up we were inseparable. Always either together or chatting all night on the phone. We have made memories together that I will never forget. When I sit and think back to all our memories growing up it is all a blur of uncontrollable giggling.
Holly got married the month after we graduated high school. Of course I was her maid of honor. When the preacher started the ceremony I started crying uncontrollably. He stopped and got me tissue. That was so embarrassing but I was so sad that I was losing my best friend. I knew it wasn’t going to be the same after she got married. Her husband would have wondered about her if she was with me more than she was with him.
Time went by, she moved out of town….we grew a little more apart. She is back in the same town as me now and ironically we live 2 houses from each other. She is very busy between work and school and we don’t get to see each other as much as we would like. But when we do get together it feels like we never missed a beat. I have a feeling it will always be that way. Just pick up where we left off and move forward.
I just want to wish her a Happy Birthday and I hope we have many more years of giggly memories!
Branching out…trying new things.
Well so maybe I was forced to try something new. I nervously agreed to a new order for a shopping cart cover. I had never made one of those before. Here is the part that made it more nerve wracking: SHE GAVE ME THE FABRIC TO USE! So basically if I mess up I can’t start over.
Well I am happy to say that it is finished and it turned out ok.
She said she wanted it really fluffy and I think I made it fluffy enough!
