Polka-Dots Make Me Happy!

Sorry I went MIA!  I didn’t mean to be gone so long but you know how that goes.

Continuing with my mini home makeover, I’m tackling all the things in my house that I have painted black.   After we moved into this house in 2007, if something sat still long enough, it got painted black.  Looking around my house now, I’m determined to brighten things up!

If you love polka dots (who doesn’t) and lots of color you will love the dresser in my entry now!

You can also see in the after picture my new wall color by Valspar which is Gray Silt.  I love it!  Ok I will be back soon with more progress!

Lamp Love

I am on the hunt for some new living room lamps.  I want something that is clear aqua glass with a big light bulb shape.  The problem is I can’t really find what I’m searching for.

So far this is what I have found:

Found here $140.  Love the shape and color but not the price.

Then we have this for $50 which isn’t a bad price at all but just not in love with the shape:

I also found this lamp base at Lowe’s for $34.97:

Which might look cute with this shade from Target for $19.99:

Heather Ross Fish in Bags Baby Quilt

Heather Ross Baby Quilt
I had a baby shower to go to yesterday and of course like normal “Beth fashion” I waited until the last minute to make a quilt.   When I was looking at my fabrics to decide on which ones to use, I spotted the center of the quilt which is 4 blocks that I had made well over 2 years ago.  Since I was so short on time I decided I would go with those 4 blocks that were already finished and use that in the quilt.

The Heather Ross Fish in Bags is one of my all time favorite collections right next to the Flea Market Fancy by Denyse Schmidt.

The mother didn’t know the gender of the baby and she loved the quilt!  It will be perfect for either.  Coincidentally their favorite college team color is orange.

What’s next?

My tights mean business.

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.

I’ve been struggling with where I am in life and where I want to be lately. The two are light years away from each other. The thing is I don’t really know the path to take to get to where I want to be. I guess I will just take it one day at a time and surround myself with what makes me happy.

Little things make me smile!

Went to the post office today to file a lawsuit upstairs at the court clerks office. When I was leaving I remembered that I needed some stamps. So I get to the counter to purchase them and LOOK WHAT THEY HAD!

Those are little quilt stamps! How stinking cute are they?

Then I started sewing these cute little buttons on a pocket for little project that I have in mind. I will be posting the finished project later.

Notice the little smoke coming out of the train? 😉 It’s the small things!

Then I am trying to get this order finished up for a cozy cover. The lady picked out her own fabric and I didn’t care for it at first but it is starting to grow on me! Tonight I will finish up the hood part and also make some strap pad covers. I am also making a quilt for her out of the same dog gone (get it) fabric, ha ha I crack myself up!

And can someone tell me what it means when you crave olives? I can’t get enough of these things lately!

Get Real Monday…..Sewing Room Edition

I got inspired by Randi to post a room that is in serious need of my attention. In looking through the list of faithful followers I noticed a few other sewing rooms were posted. But nothing to the extent of this!

Looking in from the door way.

That over sized chair is usually in the living room but got stuck back here when we started the floor refinishing project.

The closet….

O did I mention that this room was actually clean about two weeks ago?

Can’t wait to get that room cleaned up…maybe that is why I haven’t wanted to do much in there lately.
