Short and Stout

On my way home from work I decided that I was going to have some tea when I got home to unwind and relax from my hard days work. *snicker*

Tea time.

Later that night I was on the couch watching American Idol and my husband was in the kitchen loading the dishwasher. This is part of his little house wife tendencies. When out of the blue he says, “Is this little teapot short and stout?”. I just smiled and told him he was a dork and went on with my AI.

Afternoon tea.

What kind of tea do you drink? What is your favorite?

I work well under pressure.

Really I do.

I am not showing you the before picture!

Because frankly my kitchen was 4 different colors. It was pure embarrassment!

When we moved in the kitchen was a sage green. Well I have fiestaware and I didn’t really think the sage went very well with it. So I painted it a pea/lime green. Decided that was a bit too green and thought I wanted a warmer color. Then came the Texas Longhorn orange. O did I mention in all of this that I never finished the entire kitchen while painting. So seriously all the colors were showing in different spots.

It was really, really, embarrassing.

Then this brings us to last night. I have had a gallon of “pottery glaze” paint for about a month now just waiting to have a kitchen all one color. We have company coming to see our new house for the first time so I knew that I had to get the kitchen one color at least.

Christmas is what…A WEEK AWAY? OMGoodness panic mode!

I started painting last night around 7 p.m. and like a champ I hung in there and got the job done!

Time to sit back and admire it now….well or finish other tasks that have been waiting even longer to be finished. It is a never ending process when you live with and OCD project started like me.

So lets just relax at work today and admire my new kitchen.

Now I need to fix the part of the little balls that didn’t get caught in the stitching!

Kitchen Makeover

I tell ya there is always something.

I will have some more pictures when I find some art for the kitchen. My theme is really coffee, brown and teal. The pears will go as soon as I have more coffee things.

Home alone with a pot of coffee….that’s dangerous!

Vanilla Biscotti by Folgers. Actually was really good! Try it!

I have been REALLY productive lately I’m proud of myself.

First let’s talk about the Cowgirl Cozylilcover. It is not really my style but I think it turned out pretty cute.

Then a matching quilt to go with it.

I also finished some swaps and got them off to their new homes! Hope they like them, I will post pics of them later. Hope your having a good weekend.

What am I doing?

Well the answer to that questions is sitting here on my butt avoiding the things I should be doing!  Like boxing up all this crap piled around me or maybe finishing home projects to get ready for the open house THIS SUNDAY!  Thats right two days away!  I’m just sitting here reading blogs and whatever else I can do to avoid the things that need to be done.  But I’m just so unmotivated.  Big news though we bought a new house!  I’m so excited!  It has a pool that is all I care about.  It could be a cardboard box next to a pool and I would be set!  But it’s not that either it is really nice.  I can’t wait to move in.  As of now we are closing on June 1.  But if we get a contract on the house we live in right now it might end up being a week after that.  I forgot to take a picture of the outside of the house. 😦  But here are a few of the inside.  Also I need some suggestions…Do you see that sage green color in the kitchen?  Well I have fiestaware and the sage green is too “countryish” for my fiesta.  So what do you think would look the best….red, light tealish blue, or a pear/appleish green?  Or any other color that you think of?  Also I’m leaving the living room that khaki color so what one would look best with that too.

Let me know what color you think!  O and the fabric that I want to make my curtain out of for the kitchen is this.

Sorry the picture is so blurry.

Spring makes me all little girl giggly…

Look at all those blooms!  I just wish it stayed like that all year round.  Yesterday I went shopping with one of my friends to some fabric stores in a city near our small town.
Before leaving that morning my husband finds me printing out a list of ALL the fabric stores in this city and then he says in a rather annoying, loud voice “Quit buying fabric!”  I have no clue why he would say that, surely it isn’t the fact that I have a shelffull already.  But after that little comment I just had to buy something.  So we started out at JoAnn’s where I found the cutest ever snail print and I am trying to figure out now what to make with it.  I also bought some “fruity” fabrics for spring.  I might use one of them for some new curtains in the kitchen when I decide to redo it.  Nothing major just cutting the cabinet doors up to put glass in the middle and paint them white.  And take down that wallpaper…that’s right I said WALLPAPER and to top it all of there is border also.  I have to say I thought it was kinda cute when we moved in but now I try not to look at the walls in my kitchen out of pure discust.  I’m sure you want to see what I’m talking about.  I hate this little valance thing they made….

The wallpaper up-close…

I want glass cabinet cutouts sooooo bad to show my fiestaware!  How cute would this look through a glass?  Like a little miniature china cabinet.

Over half of it is in the dishwasher…kinda hard getting them out with a couch in front of it!  Stupid floor refinishing!

My favorite piece…the egg tray.  It is just so cute with those little circles.

I know this blog has been from the tree to the kitchen and now a purse.  But I made this last night with some of my NEW fabric I purchased yesterday and here’s my first attempt at a wallet.

And my first zipper installation!!!!!

See ya tomorrow!  Where did this weekend go anyways?

My Great Big Idea!

Literally……it is huge!  I love love love fiestaware!  So I decided I needed a fiesta table.  I wanted it to be tall so that we could sit at it with barstools.  It has 6 barstools that are painted fiesta colors, each a different color.  And the table is tall, black, and broken fiesta.  I had to beg persuade my dad to make the table for me.  It was a group project tiling the top and was really fun too.  I did have to hassle motivate my dad to hurry up on the table because I had six barstools sitting around the house for about a month waiting for their better half to get done.  But it’s finished now and I couldn’t be more happy!  Well unless I had a bigger house. 😉
